This research focuses on understanding the physical mechanisms underlying the global formation of tropical cyclones, using the modeling approach. Our aim is to quantify the factors that could answer a fundamental question of why the total number of TCs around 100 annually instead of any arbitrary number. This open question is of great importance, as it could help understand the uniqueness of the Earth's atmosphere in generating TCs, thus having significant implications to future TC variability.
