My research is focused on evolution and paleoecology investigations of prominent marine fauna throughout the Phanerozoic in eastern North America. I study Paleozoic conodonts, Cretaceous rudist bivalves, and modern deep-sea corals, all which contribute perspectives to the modern biodiversity crisis. Ultimately, my integrated studies help highlight that rates of biodiversity loss in modern marine systems are orders of magnitude faster than fossil systems.
