The Stable Isotope Research Facility (SIRF) in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences houses four isotope ratio mass spectrometers dedicated to analysis of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur. Since 2009, SIRF has occupied space in the new Multidisciplinary Science Building II, where it continues a long tradition of serving faculty, students, and visitors to Indiana University, as well researchers from other institutions.

Our users include paleoclimatologists working on sediments from lakes and oceans, dendrochronologists, hydrologists, plant ecologists, paleontologists, and biogeochemists interested in cycles of S, N, and C.
