Applications are now open via IU Scholarships in One.IU for awards and funding for students of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences.
Getting started
First step is to complete the 7 required questions (*) on the University-level application. Skip other questions about past experience, etc. and enter N/A for scholarship essay.
General EAS application
Simply complete the four required EAS questions to be eligible for the following awards:
Undergraduate
- Beginning geologist and atmospheric scientist awards
- Junior Award (Pruett scholarship)
- Senior Award (Cordua Scholarship)
- Undergraduate Citizenship Award (Cumings-Mallott Scholarship)
- Wintsch Beginning Field Geologist Award (Cumings-Mallott Scholarship)
- Sheldon Turner Scholarship (for undergraduate research)
- Maynard and Winifred Coller Scholarship (for undergraduate research)
- Don and Margie Hattin Field Course Scholarship
Instructions for EAS general application
- Do you want to be considered for year-end awards? (yes or no)
- Are you currently working on a thesis or dissertation? (yes or no) If yes, you will be asked for title, name of advisor, and whether it involves materials or questions related to state of Indiana.
- Have you published a scientific paper since last May? (yes or no) If yes, you will be asked for full citation and DOI if available.
- Do you plan to take a field course other than X429 that has special fees including conference field trips? (yes or no) If yes, you will be asked for information about the course and its fees
Awards with special applications
The following awards require specific application materials. Search for “IUB-EAS” in the “further opportunities” section. (note if you are ineligible you will not be able to see these awards)
Rudman-Pavlis Undergraduate Geophysics Award (undergrads only) submit description of your interest in geophysics research
Research Grant-In-Aid (grads and undergrads) submit project title, summary of research goals and project, itemized budget, and summary of other applications you submitted to support your research
Conference Travel Support (no deadline, but unavailable in August; grads and undergrads) submit information about conference, your presentation, and the cost of the conference
